Department of Medical Surgical Nursing aims at imparting expertise and in depth knowledge to students in providing holistic care to the patients. We have a well equipped lab with mannequins for advanced life saving procedures. The training methodology adopted includes simulation, skill training and OSCE sessions. It helps students to appreciate the patient as a holistic individual and develop skill to function as a Medical and Surgical Nurse.

This department is conducting various extension activities include camps, health education for public, observance of all important national and international health days like world diabetic day, world brain tumour day, world blood donation day, world kidney day and world hepatitis day.we are affiliated with various prestigious institutions like Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Science and Technology, Regional Cancer Centre, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences. Clinical experience is provided in various medical and surgical wards, intensive care units, operation theaters and speciality areas like cardiology, cardiac surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, nephrology, eye, ENT, plastic and reconstructive surgery and oncology units.

Post graduation program was established in 2009. It is designed to assess the students’ developing expertise and in depth knowledge in the field of Medical and Surgical Nursing. It will further enable the students to function as a nurse educator, manager and clinical researcher in the field of Medical and Surgical Nursing.
